The budget allocated to Horizon 2020 in 2015 is 9.61 billion EUR for commitments and 9.02 billion EUR for payments, which is an increase of 45 million EUR on the European Commission’s draft 2015 budget. This increased budget will be used to meet outstanding payments from FP7/H2020 projects. Read more

The European Research Council (ERC) has this latest film which will give you an overview of the schemes and what the ERC are looking for.
The ERC encourages in particular proposals that cross disciplinary boundaries, pioneering ideas that address new and emerging fields and applications that introduce unconventional, innovative approaches.

Essentially, researchers have to self-archive (such as in ROAR) or choose a gold OA journal (which may involve a substantial charge), and in some areas also deposit their data in a suitable repository (such as the one we will have ready by the summer). Stephen Grace our internal expert is happy to talk researchers through the OA requirements, or check particular journals for compliance with the EU policy.
