Only 7% of Engineers are Women

The UK has the lowest percentage of female engineering professionals in Europe, at less than 10%, while Latvia, Bulgaria and Cyprus lead with nearly 30%.

Just 17% of all professors working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics are women

Athena SWAN – Charter for Women in Science

mary linington picUEL has re-iterated its commitment to gaining an Athena SWAN award. The charter scheme recognises commitment to advancing women’s careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education and research.

Dr Mary Linington, Senior Lecturer in Chemistry in Cass School of Education and Communities will take up post to lead the work.
